Job description
We are looking for an experienced and highly capable SOC Lead to manage the Security Operations Centre (SOC) based in Basingstoke. As the first point of contact for all physical security emergency escalations across the VE region, you and your team will play a critical role in safeguarding people, assets and operations.
This is a senior operational role requiring calm leadership, sound judgement, and the ability to take ownership of complex incidents in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment. You will lead by example, making timely decisions, ensuring accurate escalation, and seeing incidents through from initial alarm activation to resolution and closure.

Main Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the VE Security Operations Centre on a 24/7 shift rotation, acting as the first point of contact for all physical security emergency escalations
- Take ownership of incidents from initial alarm activation through to investigation, escalation and closure
- Make timely, well-judged decisions under pressure, ensuring accurate escalation and clear communication to stakeholders
- Ensure all actions and decisions are fully documented within command logs, maintaining a clear audit trail
- Mentor, support and develop SOC Response Officers, embedding a culture of ownership, accountability and continuous improvement
- Analyse alarm and incident data to identify trends, reduce reoccurrence and improve system efficiency
- Maintain strong working relationships with VE customers and key stakeholders, building trust and long-term partnerships
- Drive improvements to SOC policies, processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with client Guarding Standards
Requirements
Do you have experience in SIEM?, * Experience working in or managing a UK Emergency Services Control Room / Control Centre environment
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and stakeholders during high-pressure incidents
- Strong incident and crisis management capability, including multi-agency coordination
- Sound knowledge of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery and organisational resilience
- Experience working in a highly regulated, data-driven environment, including audit and compliance (e.g. ISO 27001)
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with security systems including IDS, IPS and SIEM tools
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise reports
- Proven analytical skills, including experience using data analysis tools such as Power BI (or equivalent)
