Job description

The role will comprise of a mix of data protection/tech work (80%) and general commercial sports and media work (20%). This is a chance to become the go-to person for sports and media data work within the firm, providing a rare opportunity to develop a niche at an exciting time for the growth of the data and digital media industry.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on data protection transactional work (data processing arrangements, data sharing, international transfer arrangements);
  • Advising on data protection compliance projects (data protection assessments, advising on direct marketing, data breaches, and data protection policies)
  • Advising on the licensing and commercial exploitation of data;
  • Advising clients in the sports and media industry on technology transactional work (software development, SaaS contracts, technology outsourcing and licensing arrangements);
  • Assisting the broader Commercial team on a range of sponsorship, supply of goods and services, live events, broadcasting and image rights matters.

Requirements

The role will ideally suit someone with existing data protection experience who is looking to apply this to the sports and media industry. The firm are ideally looking for someone with an interest in data protection who also maintains a keen interest in remaining a commercial lawyer. The role offers plenty of room for career growth and development, with opportunities to speak at industry events and contribute towards thought leadership pieces across the industry.
