Job description

Join us as an Operational Intelligence Delivery Engineer to improve the performance and reliability of our powered installations. You'll work with County System Performance teams to enhance our monitor fleet and drive improvements to the DNM platform.

Your role includes resolving sensor issues quickly, identifying high-risk areas to prevent recurring failures, and reducing reactive work through proactive planning. You'll analyse performance and predictive data to manage the sensor fleet effectively and support network optimisation.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Wastewater Network policies, procedures, Environment Agency protocols, and regulatory requirements daily.
  • Oversee deployment, configuration, and maintenance of sensors to ensure accurate data and reduce flooding, pollution, and asset failures.
  • Maintain reliable, accurate, and complete sensor data in corporate systems (SAP, STS, DNM platform).
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with internal teams and external suppliers to support operational goals.
  • Identify and address repeat sensor or asset failures, implement interventions, and support reactive work as needed.
  • Act as the coordinator for all H&S matters related to sensor installation and maintenance, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Monitor sensor performance, recommend deployment strategies, and manage investment requests to enhance drainage and asset performance.
  • Provide technical guidance to field teams, contribute to incident reports, and lead operational matters related to sensor installations

Requirements

  • Proven experience working on powered assets, with strong knowledge of sewer operations, pumping station principles, and wastewater network policies.
  • HNC in Civil Engineering is essential; a degree and professional institute membership (Civil/Water Industry) are desirable.
  • Awareness of Confined Space Regulations 1997, CDM, NRSWA, and sewerage law, with excellent understanding of health and safety standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and IT skills; excellent communication, influencing, and customer service abilities; capable of working under pressure and managing deadlines.
  • Budget awareness, commercial acumen, ability to plan short to medium term, full UK driving licence, and experience interfacing with internal and external stakeholders.
