Job description

Join the SimpliFi program as a Lead Architect & Data Engineer to shape the Azure-based data platform that unifies financial data across Operating Entities (OEs) and powers standardized accounting and reporting. You'll set architectural direction, harmonize designs across OEs, and ensure reliability, security, and compliance while guiding DevOps practices and platform operations at scale., * Evaluate and guide technical initiatives and platforms to align with strategy, performance, and cost goals.

  • Architect DevOps best practices (versioning, CI/CD, IaC) to streamline delivery and operations on Azure.
  • Harmonize and standardize architectures and interfaces across global/local OEs for seamless integration.
  • Design rollout/release pipelines and oversee go-lives, ensuring readiness of technology, data, and access.
  • Lead platform operations (updates, cost optimization/FinOps, incident & service mgmt, DR, monitoring).
  • Embed security & compliance into designs to ensure robust, trustworthy systems.
  • Resolve Level-3 issues, offering expert guidance and escalation management for complex problems., When we do work with recruitment agencies, that engagement is formalized by a contract. Fees will only be paid when there is a contract in place. Without a contract in place, we will not accept invoices on unsolicited resumes, even if the candidate was ultimately employed by Allianz.

Requirements

  • Data Engineering track record: 5+ years delivering data solutions; comfortable engaging in architecture, requirements, cost/effort estimation, and stakeholder alignment.
  • Azure expertise: 3+ years building on Azure (strong in Synapse), plus hands-on with Databricks ( 1 year).
  • Data architecture depth: data modeling, data warehousing, Data Vault, and big-data tech (e.g., Spark/Hadoop).
  • DevOps & automation: CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform) across environments.
  • Operations mindset: platform releases, disaster recovery, monitoring/observability, and ITSM/ITIL awareness.
  • Security & governance: practical knowledge of data governance and data security best practices.
  • Leadership & communication: strong analytical/problem-solving skills; organized, customer-focused collaboration.

It would be great if you also have (not required):

  • Awareness of web application stacks to support platform interfaces, and experience harmonizing architectures across multiple OEs/global programs.

If you don't tick every box, that's okay-your growth mindset matters. We welcome applicants who bring the essentials and are eager to learn the rest.

Benefits & conditions

  • We offer a hybrid work model which recognizes the value of striking a balance between in-person collaboration and remote working incl. up to 25 days per year working from abroad.
  • We believe in rewarding performance and our compensation and benefits package includes a company bonus scheme, pension, employee shares program and multiple employee discounts (details vary by location).
  • From career development and digital learning programs to international career mobility, we offer lifelong learning for our employees worldwide and an environment where innovation, delivery and empowerment are fostered.
  • Flexible working, health and wellbeing offers (including healthcare and parental leave benefits) support to balance family and career and help our people return from career breaks with experience that nothing else can teach
