Job description
As a Senior Reliability, Scalability & Performance Architect you will define, design, and govern the implementation of Non-Functional Requirements across Swiss Re's Life & Health digital ecosystem. You will collaborate with solution architects, engineering leads, and DevOps teams to translate enterprise standards into measurable system attributes such as performance, resilience, observability, and security.
In addition to NFR governance, you will be responsible for technology stewardship - proactively identifying, planning, and executing framework and library upgrades, security remediations, and platform migrations to ensure systems remain modern, compliant, and secure., * Define and maintain the product-wide NFR framework, including principles, metrics, and design patterns for delivery teams.

Collaborate with solution architects, product owners, and engineering leads to capture, validate, and implement NFRs throughout the SDLC.

Conduct architecture and performance reviews to validate compliance with scalability, reliability, and resilience objectives.

Develop and maintain reference architectures, reusable blueprints, and NFR patterns that promote consistency across solutions.

Partner with security, infrastructure, and SRE teams to align architecture with enterprise policies and operational best practices.

Champion the integration of automated performance, resilience, and security testing into CI/CD pipelines.

Lead framework and library lifecycle management, including: Assessing and planning upgrades, migrations, and deprecations for technologies such as Spring Framework, Spring Boot, Hibernate, Java SDKs, and related open-source components. Coordinating security patching and remediation to address vulnerabilities (CVEs) in underlying frameworks and dependencies. Collaborating with platform teams to ensure compatibility with evolving Azure, containerization, and DevOps toolchains.

Support technology evaluations and architecture decisions to optimize for performance, cost, and operational efficiency.

Provide technical leadership and mentoring to engineering teams on NFR and architecture best practices.

Continuously track and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools related to SRE, observability, and cloud-native engineering. Key NFR Domains

Availability & Resilience: Architect for fault tolerance, redundancy, and disaster recovery.

Requirements
We understand that no one meets 100% of the requirements - if you are passionate about building reliable, resilient systems and meet most of the below, we'd love to hear from you., * 12+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering (preferably Java/J2EE ecosystem).

5+ years in architecture or technical leadership roles.

Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, RESTful microservices, and related frameworks.

Proven experience with Azure Cloud, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD automation.

Proficiency with observability and performance tooling (Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk).

Experience managing framework and library upgrades, dependency security remediation, and platform migrations.

Working knowledge of authentication/authorization (Okta, Azure AD, OAuth2/OpenID Connect).

Strong understanding of DevSecOps and secure SDLC principles.

Familiarity with architecture modeling tools such as Enterprise Architect or Visio. Nice to Have

Exposure to Angular/React for end-to-end solution context.

Experience defining NFR standards in regulated domains (insurance, finance, healthcare).

For Spain, the base salary range for this position is between [EUR 60,000] and [EUR 100,000] (for a full-time role). The specific salary offered considers:
