Job description

As the Operational Technology Cyber Security Consultant, you will translate customer cyber security requirements into robust system solutions that can be implemented on existing plant-based GE equipment. This includes critical industrial infrastructure, such as Power Plants, Wind Farms, Mining & Metals, Offshore, Oil & Gas and Railway. You will play a leading role in the full project lifecycle, from offer preparation to commissioning on-site. Your key area of focus will be OT (HMIs, PLCs, networking) and system-related infrastructure, i.e. associated engineering stations, data acquisition systems and remote access solutions.

In this role you will focus on:

  • Proposing OT cyber security system upgrades and presenting them to our customers.

  • Supporting our projects regarding cybersecurity from the offer phase to implementation at the customer.

  • Assessing requirements in critical infrastructure, as well as development of measures to meet these requirements.

  • Advising on the design/adaptation of system architecture according to customer specifications.

  • Defining the configuration of various devices (PC, switch, firewall, but also HMIs, PLCs and monitoring stations).

  • Coordinating and advising on site acceptance test activities.

  • Planning, conducting, and participating in cybersecurity meetings with customers and suppliers.

  • Coordinating with colleagues in the UK, France, Germany, USA and India with regards to general procedures and guidelines for cybersecurity in industrial facilities.

  • 20% of work time may consist of domestic and occasional international travel to technical meetings, site visits and customer visits; both independently and as a member of a wider team.

Requirements

  • Academic degree in Cyber Security, Controls & Automation, or Industrial Control Systems (or related field), OR equivalent knowledge gained in a professional engineering environment.

  • Previous experience of designing and integrating control & automation project solutions (HMI, PLC, ICS, SCADA).

  • Sound knowledge of Industrial communication protocols, e.g. Modbus RTU, TCP/ IP, OPC-UA, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, etc.

  • Strong understanding of industrial networking.

  • Very good knowledge of cybersecurity standards and industrial OT, particularly IEC 62443.

  • Ability to configure a hardened MS Windows environment, computer networks and PLC environments.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with an emphasis on customer service.

Nice-to-have qualifications:

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate.

  • Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) certificate.

  • Previous experience working with cybersecurity in the power industry.
