Senior Shopify Developer

We're looking for a Senior Shopify Developer with a strong front-end focus to take ownership of our Shopify ecosystem and drive it forward with confidence and autonomy.

This role is ideal for someone who excels at building high-performance, conversion-focused storefronts, leading front-end Shopify development, and turning commercial goals into polished, scalable e-commerce experiences. While the role is primarily front-end, you'll also need solid back-end and integration experience to ensure our platforms are robust, well-connected, and future-proof.

You'll have the freedom to move projects forward independently, with the backing and support of a collaborative in-house team.

You'll work closely with commercial stakeholders, marketing, product, and design to ensure our Shopify platforms are fast, scalable, conversion-focused, and aligned with brand and business objectives.

This is a hybrid role, with Thursdays based in our Stockport office and flexibility the rest of the week.

What You'll Be Doing

This is not a ticket-factory role. We're looking for someone who can lead, challenge, and improve - not just build what's asked., * Owning and leading multiple Shopify builds, with a strong focus on front-end architecture, theme development, and user experience, through to launch and optimisation

• Driving conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and revenue growth through front-end performance improvements, UX enhancements, and experimentation
• Developing and maintaining high-quality, scalable Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
• Supporting and contributing to back-end functionality, including integrations, APIs, and Shopify app customisation where required
• Translating business and commercial requirements into robust technical solutions
• Collaborating closely with designers to turn concepts, wireframes, and prototypes into high-performing storefronts
• Implementing and maintaining key Shopify integrations (payments, subscriptions, apps, APIs, analytics, CMS, etc.)
• Ensuring sites are optimised for performance, accessibility, Tech SEO, and cross-device compatibility
• Monitoring site performance during key trading periods and supporting the platform during critical incidents when required
• Reviewing commercial and behavioural data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
• Acting as a technical lead and mentor, raising front-end standards and best practices within the team
• Staying ahead of Shopify platform updates, e-commerce trends, and emerging front-end technologies, * Technical Interview - Deep dive into front-end Shopify experience, previous builds, and commercial impact
• Follow-Up Interview - Final discussion, feedback, and team fit
• Offer & Onboarding - Team lunch on your first day and full support to get you up and running

Do you have experience in WordPress?, * Proven experience as a Senior Shopify Developer, with a strong emphasis on front-end development

• Demonstrable success in improving conversion rates and revenue on Shopify stores
• Deep knowledge of Shopify, Liquid, theme architecture, and app integrations
• Strong front-end skills: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (performance and UX-focused)
• Solid understanding of back-end concepts, APIs, and integrations to support front-end builds
• Experience working autonomously, taking ownership from idea through to delivery
• Confident collaborating with non-technical stakeholders and translating commercial needs into technical solutions
• Experience using Git and working within structured development workflows
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Comfortable supporting e-commerce platforms during high-traffic or critical trading periods

Nice to Have / Bonus Skills

• Shopify Plus experience
• API integrations and light custom app development
• Experience with CRO tools, A/B testing, and analytics
• Strong knowledge of Tech SEO and accessibility best practices
• Experience with WordPress / WooCommerce
• Understanding of regulated e-commerce environments (CBD, Medical Cannabis, health products)
• Exposure to AI tools or automation within e-commerce
