Job description

We are looking for an ambitious Software Engineer to join us and help shape the future of our industry-leading technology.

First Locate are one of the UK's largest outsource resources for debt resolution and payment processing. We have been a leading Debt Management business for over two decades. Our First Locate Family is made up of approx. 250 people from North and West Yorkshire who provide excellent customer service to all our clients and extended customers. So that's us, now let's talk about your you:

As a Software Engineer at First Locate, you'll:

· Develop new business-critical features based on stakeholder input.

· Improve and enhance existing software functionalities.

· Work in Agile Scrum teams, attending stand-ups & sprint planning sessions.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Software development?, · 2+ years of commercial experience in web-based software development.

· Strong PHP skills (legacy PHP 5.6 & modern Laravel projects).

· Deep understanding of SOLID principles.

· Experience integrating REST, SOAP, XML & JSON APIs.

· Proficiency in Laravel Framework.

· Frontend knowledge - HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery & other libraries).

· Strong MySQL skills, including complex relational database queries.

· Version control using Git.

· Agile/Scrum experience, collaborating closely in cross-functional teams.

· Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable (Bonus) Skills:

· DevOps experience (CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code).

· Node.js & TypeScript (we use multiple Node.js services in production).

· Familiarity with AWS (S3, SQS, API Gateway, Lambda).

· Experience working with Microservices & RESTful APIs.

· Knowledge of Docker & Kubernetes (AWS EKS clusters).

· NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis)., Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Maths (or 5+ years of equivalent commercial experience).
