Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to join our team in Edinburgh. In this role, you will lead the design, development, and execution of automated test solutions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, secure, and resilient software., * Define and execute test strategies, suites, and cases with a on automation, scalability, and maintainability.

  • Develop and maintain in-sprint automation to align with Agile development cycles, ensuring that new features are validated in parallel with development.
  • Design, enhance, and maintain automated test scripts and framework components for functional, integration, regression, and API testing.
  • Apply proficiency in UI automation tools (e.g.,Serenity/Selenium, Robot, Watir).
  • Perform detailed failure analysis and root-cause investigations for automated and manual test results.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, product managers, and DevOps teams to embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Continuously improve automation frameworks, tools, and processes to enhance coverage, stability, and execution.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g.,Jenkins,Spinnaker,GitHubActions,GitLab).
  • Support manual and exploratory testing efforts as automation scope expands.
  • in Agile ceremonies to ensure test deliverables align with sprint goals and acceptance criteria.
  • Leverage AI-assisted coding and testing tools (e.g.,GitHubCopilot) to improve test coverage, efficiency, and documentation consistency, identifying patterns and reusable AI-generated assets that benefit the broader Engineering team.
  • Diagnose, communicate, and document issues clearly for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Uphold quality standards, coding best practices, and cross-team knowledge sharing.
  • Partner with onshore and offshore teams to meet project objectives and timelines.
  • Contribute to end-to-end testing and production-readiness validation.

Requirements

This is a highly technical role for an experienced quality engineering professional who thrives on building robust automation frameworks and driving continuous improvements in testing strategy and execution. You will play a key in influencing our engineering culture by advancing the quality and scalability of Broadridge's internally developed applications., * 4+ years of professional experience as a software developer, quality engineer, or SDET, with strong programming and automation design.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, InformationTechnology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Deep understanding of software engineering principles, Agile methodologies, and QA best practices.
  • Proficiency in one or more programming/scripting languages such as Java, Python, orC#; familiarity with VBScript, HTML, SQL, or other query languages is a plus.
  • Experience developing utilities, automation tools, or supporting applications using Java, Python, or scripting languages.
  • Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Selenium,Playwright,orSerenity, including framework configuration, reusable component development, and data-dr testing.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g.,Jenkins,GitHubActions,Spinnaker,Bamboo) and integration of automated test suites into pipelines.
  • Solid understanding of version control systems such asGit and collaborative development practices (branching, peer reviews, merge workflows).
  • Experience with API testing tools (e.g.,Postman,Swagger,SoapUI) and validation RESTful or GraphQL services (JSON/XML).
  • Working knowledge of databases and data validation using SQL or similar query languages.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g.,JIRA,Xray).
  • Proficient in using AI-assisted coding and testing tools (e.g.,GitHubCopilot) to increase velocity and enhance test reliability.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues across distributed environments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working in cross-functional Agile teams.
  • Self-driven professional with high ownership, adaptability and a continuous improvement mindset., * Demonstrated success working in distributed Agile teams delivering scalable, high-quality software.
  • Advanced automation framework design expertise using Serenity/Selenium or Playwright, including extensible architecture, descriptive programming, API, and data-driven testing integration.
  • Experience testing event-driven architectures and data streams (e.g.,ApacheKafka), including schema validation and payload verification.
  • Understanding of application security testing principles and validation approaches.
  • Experience working in cloud environments (AWS,Azure,GCP) and with containerization technologies (Docker,Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with modern quality engineering strategies such as shift-left testing, continuous testing, and test observability.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and leadership skills emphasizing transparency, collaboration, and quality ownership.
