MCS Group is proud to be partnering again with one of the UK and Ireland's most exciting technology companies in their search for a Lead Software Engineer. The company's product suite sits at the cutting-edge of AI and this firm is truly in growth mode after a fantastic 2025. This is a truly unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer (you could be operating at a senior level currently or principal/staff level) who is seeking to join a tech company that is truly scaling (competing and winning against the big names in AI in industry today) and to future proof their career. Working on one of their core products, as a Lead Backend Engineer you will own the design, quality, and delivery of backend systems and services. You'll lead a team of engineers, set technical direction, and work closely with stakeholders to turn product needs into scalable, reliable software.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor backend engineers.
- Define architecture, coding standards, and best practices.
- Work with product and engineering teams to shape technical solutions.
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs using either Python or Node.js.
- Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and reliable.
Requirements
- You'll have deep commercial experience in backend development (Python or Node.js).
- You'll have a strong background in scalable, server-side architecture.
- Experience delivering services at scale.
- Comfortable working in agile teams.
- Strong communication and technical leadership skills.
