Job description
Responsible for providing 2nd & 3rd line support for the IT systems and infrastructure that support day-to-day business operations. Including troubleshooting complex technical issues, leading IT projects, providing mentorship to junior team members, and ensuring the seamless operation of hardware, software, and network systems.
Roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Technical Support:
- Provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting for IT infrastructure, hardware, software, and network issues.
- Resolve complex system, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
- Serve as the point of escalation for advanced technical support queries.
- Infrastructure Management:
- Manage and monitor the performance of servers, networks, and IT systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain hardware (servers, workstations, routers, etc.) and software.
- Perform system updates, backups, and routine maintenance to ensure security and performance.
- Project Management:
- Lead and participate in IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations, and deployments.
- Plan and execute IT infrastructure changes with minimal downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new technologies and improve existing systems.
- Security:
- Ensure network and system security through proper configuration and monitoring.
- Implement and maintain security protocols such as firewalls, antivirus software, and data encryption.
- Regularly assess and mitigate security vulnerabilities.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, changes, and support procedures.
- Create reports and provide updates to IT management regarding system performance and project status.
- Leadership and Mentoring:
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior IT staff.
- Conduct training sessions for employees to improve their use of IT systems.
- Act as a technical expert and advocate for best practices within the IT team.
- Vendor and Asset Management:
- Coordinate with vendors for hardware and software procurement and support.
- Manage IT assets, ensuring proper inventory and lifecycle management of hardware and software.
- Customer Support:
- Maintain a high level of customer service by resolving technical issues efficiently and maintaining communication with users.
- Provide support for remote employees and manage remote access tools.
Requirements
Do you have experience in IT support?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Strong cybersecurity awareness and experience of security accreditations (Cyber Essentials Plus / ISO27001)
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT support or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Mac OS environments.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other networking services.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSE, or ITIL are highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Project management and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
