Job description
- Provide first-line technical support to staff, ensuring timely resolution of IT issues.
- Respond to and manage support requests through the ticketing system, maintaining accurate documentation and regular updates.
- Set up and configure new hardware, user accounts, and software installations.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of IT assets and ensure proper upkeep.
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Perform routine checks and maintenance on IT equipment, including cleaning, cable management, and hardware inspections.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues, escalating when necessary.
- Install and configure software and hardware components.
- Apply regular software updates to keep systems secure and compliant.
- Troubleshoot technical issues promptly and effectively.
- Train new users and assist with account setup.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation and user guides.
- Manage mobile devices, including redistribution and configuration of equipment.
- Support printing infrastructure, including troubleshooting and managing consumables.
- Track and manage IT consumables (e.g., cables) and reorder when stock is low.
- Monitor system performance and address issues proactively.
- Escalate unresolved problems to the line manager as required.
Requirements
- Qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus
Desirable
- Previous first-line support experience (beneficial but not essential)
- Understanding of IT systems, troubleshooting, user support, internet security & data privacy principles
- Excellent problem-solving and multitasking skills
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
