Job description

This small, dedicated IT team provides technical systems administration support for On-Prem and Cloud provisions used by the wider business (software engineering and operations). This can include SaaS and B2B messaging as well as day-to-day networking. They are looking to hire an experienced Systems Support Engineer who will provide 3rd line support for networking, servers, database platforms and other systems administration areas. The team's support is provided 24/7 (all year round) and so there is an out-of-hour rota cover (1-week-in-4) that is expected as part of this role.

Requirements

  • Extensive, demonstrable experience in IT Systems Engineering including work in 3rd line support.
  • Experience with networking (TCP / IP, DNS, protocols, routers, firewalls, latency, packet loss) and Windows Server systems administration (Active Directory, PowerShell, GPOs). Additional experience with Linux systems administration (Ubuntu, Apache2, OpenSSL) would be desirable.
  • Experience with large databases (SQL Server or Oracle) would be beneficial.

This is not your typical sys admin role as projects can be complex, hence experience in troubleshooting and project leadership / initiative would be an asset.

Benefits & conditions

The position is based at central Cambridge offices (easily accessible by train and bus) and allows for hybrid working (2-3 days a week in the office). On offer is a competitive salary and benefits. Interested applicants must have full, unrestricted rights to work in the UK.
