Job description
This role is ideal for a strong security Support Engineer who enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, supporting operational teams, and contributing to the maturity and capability of a security function.
Role Responsibilities -
As part of the Security Ops (Support) team, you will:
- Work in alignment with ITIL-based service management practices
- Participate in daily stand-ups and technical troubleshooting forums
- Ensure workloads are accurately managed and tracked within the ITSM platform
- Provide operational support across SASE and Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) platforms
- Triage customer requests and incidents, delivering effective remedial solutions
- Support and mentor junior engineers, including escalation handling
- Produce and maintain technical documentation for the team knowledge base
- Deliver knowledge transfer sessions where required
- Contribute to the technical maturity, standards, and competencies of the team
Requirements
You will have demonstrable experience across many of the following areas:
- Enterprise Next-Generation Firewalls - Palo Alto & Fortinet
- Firewall Management Platforms - Panorama, SCM, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer
- SASE Solutions - Palo Alto Prisma
- Load Balancers/Application Delivery - F5
- Exposure & Vulnerability Management Platforms
- Email Security Gateways (eg Mimecast)
- Strong analytical troubleshooting capability
- Solid understanding of Security Architecture principles and security design
- Networking fundamentals - routing and switching
- Cloud platforms - AWS and Azure
- Enterprise network monitoring tools
- Firewall policy administration and security profile configuration
- Experience producing and progressing Security Risk Assessments
- Documentation experience including:
- Network diagrams
- High-Level & Low-Level Designs (HLDs/LLDs)
- Security designs and risk assessments
Soft Skills & Ways of Working -
- Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing skills
- Ability to work autonomously while integrating effectively within a team
- Experience working in Agile/DevOps environments (SAFe, Scrum, or similar)
- Confident communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with Security Operations, risk, compliance, and governance
- Previous experience within an MSSP is desirable
- Experience in highly regulated environments (particularly nuclear) is a strong advantage
Active SC clearance is preferred, and priority will be given to candidates who already hold it. Candidates without active clearance must be eligible to obtain SC.
