I'm recruiting on behalf of a market-leading FinTech business based in the East Midlands that's entering an exciting new phase of growth. This is a key hire for the business and a great opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer who wants real influence, ownership, and visibility at a senior level.
You'll be joining a small, close-knit engineering team of 4 developers and reporting directly into the CTO, giving you the chance to shape technical decisions, influence architecture, and help define how the platform evolves as the business scales.
This role suits someone who enjoys being hands-on while also having a genuine voice in how things are built. What You'll Be Working On
- Building and enhancing core FinTech platforms used by a growing customer base
- Designing and developing new features across backend and frontend systems
- Improving performance, scalability, and security of existing services
- Working closely with the CTO on technical direction and future roadmap
- Taking ownership of projects from concept through to delivery
- Collaborating with product and wider business stakeholders
Projects are business-critical, customer-facing, and focused on supporting the company's next stage of growth. Tech Stack (Open-Source)
- Backend: PHP (Laravel)
- Frontend: Vue.js
- Database: MySQL
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS
- Version Control & Tooling: Git, CI/CD pipelines
Requirements
- Solid commercial experience as a Software Engineer, ideally at senior level
- Strong PHP and Laravel experience in production environments
- Experience working with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js preferred)
- Comfortable working with relational databases (MySQL)
- Experience deploying or working with cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- Someone confident working in a small team with a high level of ownership
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset with good communication skills
Benefits & conditions
- Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 depending on experience
- Hybrid working: 2 days per week onsite in Leicestershire
