Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual to join the Oncology Clinical Trials Department at Birmingham Children's Hospital as a Data Manager. We are looking to appoint a Data Manager to lead on Neuro-Oncology clinical trials working in a multidisciplinary team.Please note this is not an IT based role.Either knowledge of medical terminology would be advantageous or previous research experience., Ensuring that eligible patients are entered into open clinical trials & that all clinical data required for trials are completed, validated & returned to study sponsors in an accurate & timely fashion, promoting high quality research, both within the Trust, Nationally & Internationally.
Responsibility for data collection using local and National databases. Ensure all data relating to patients enrolled in clinical trials are collected, stored & reported in accordance with legislation e.g. the EU Directive for Good Clinical Practice (GCP) in Clinical Trials (2001/20/EC), the GDPR, & Research Governance practices.
Work as part of the Oncology Research Team & provide cross cover for other members of the team when necessary & work together to pro-actively improve data management within the department.
Ensure that copies of clinical trial protocols, PIS & ICF are made available to medical staff.
Proactively contribute to departmental initiatives & work streams. Ensuring that clinical information on the oncology database is maintained & constantly developed to support the clinical audit of services & outcomes & to assist in departmental research where appropriate.
Requirements
The post holder will provide a focal point for information requests and queries within the service; they will ensure the clinical data source, collection, entry and transfer of information is of the highest possible standard. Experience in clinical research data management is desirable. A sound knowledge of how to handle confidential data according to the applicable regulations is essential.
