Job description

The data management team of BSC is seeking a skilled Data Platform Engineer to improve and optimise our data platform, ensuring seamless performance and an improved user experience. The successful candidate will coordinate the data management technical team, contribute to the improvement of generic Data Services at BSC with AI tools, and plan and coordinate the deployment of new services such as data transfer, sharing, publication, monitoring, quality checks, automation, data management planning machine-readable services, FAIR assessment tools, and more. Key Duties

  • Design and coordinate projects to grow the current Data Management services platform at BSC in collaboration with the Data Managers of the BSC research departments.
  • Introduce AI and visualization tools to improve and optimise the data services and user experience.
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of other engineers for the realization of the technical data management projects.
  • Implement best practices for big-data processing and security within the BSC data platform.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to BSC support teams for configuring BSC data services.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot to ensure high availability of data management services.
  • Contribute to the writing of papers, reports, documentation and funding proposals., All applications must be submitted via the BSC website and include a full CV in English, a cover/motivation letter in English, and two references for further contacts. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Informatics or related fields.
  • Master's degree in Data Science or related topics would be a plus.

Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience

  • Proven experience in data-intensive management services and visualization tools.
  • Proven experience in technical team coordination.
  • Strong understanding of networking and security.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab).
  • Familiarity with Docker, Prometheus, Grafana.

Additional Knowledge and Professional Experience

  • Knowledge of agile and DevOps practices.
  • Professional experience in frontend services design.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in English.
  • Fluent written and verbal communication in Spanish.

Competences

  • Strong interpersonal skills for working within multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and report tasks to heterogeneous teams (technical and non-technical).
  • Strong skills in engineering team coordination.
