Job description

We're looking for a Big Data Software Engineer to join our team in Malaga. You'll work with large volumes of fast-moving data across multi-tiered analytics platforms to design, build, and support a high-performance real-time data platform. This includes data streaming, data lakes, and analytics databases.

What you'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain real-time data pipelines and platforms.
  • Implement complex data transformations and enrichment on streaming data.
  • Collaborate with team members through knowledge sharing and peer reviews.
  • Support performance tuning and explore new ways to improve efficiency.
  • Build monitoring and alerting systems to ensure data quality and system health.
  • Keep up-to-date with new data technologies and tools.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Spark?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with 2+ years of data engineering experience.

  • Experience handling large, fast-moving datasets including relational, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Knowledge of database design, ETL processes, and multidimensional data modelling.
  • Experience with Kafka/Kafka Connect and data processing tools like Apache Spark, Flink, or Beam.
  • Familiarity with Hadoop Clusters, preferably Cloudera.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and Python; Scala is a plus.
  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases and SQL performance tuning.
  • Problem-solving mindset, ownership, and enthusiasm for technical challenges.
  • Ability to work well in a team and strong communication skills in English.
  • Experience with data quality standards and metrics (this is a plus).

Nice to have

  • Experience with Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Exasol is helpful.
  • Familiarity with scripting skills such as Shell scripting is beneficial.
