Job description

Join KCOM as a Voice Specialist and play a key role in safeguarding our network. You will monitor voice traffic for fraudulent or nuisance activity, collaborate with internal teams and external providers, and implement strategies to prevent financial loss. Using advanced telecom systems and analytical tools, you'll ensure secure, high-quality communications for our customers., * Monitor KCOM network traffic to detect and prevent fraud.

  • Take timely action to minimise financial loss from fraudulent activity.
  • Analyse traffic using SQL and in-house databases, tracking fraud trends daily.
  • Manage systems including APS, SIP, Metaswitch, Smartcomms, 155 & GPRS to support accurate reporting.
  • Update customer and payphone list to enhance real-time monitoring.
  • Identify and mitigate fraud scenarios, e.g., PBX hacks, updating the Hot Numbers List.
  • Screen and reroute nuisance calls, collaborating with external providers and post-analysis teams.
  • Implement customer-facing features, including personalised call-blocking options.
  • Respond to ad-hoc regulatory requests and ensure compliance with Ofcom regulations.
  • Provide insights and post-event reports to customers affected by fraud or nuisance calls.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Telecommunication?, * Proven technical expertise with SQL and telecom systems (APS, SIP, Metaswitch, Smartcomms, GPRS).

  • Strong analytical skills to interpret traffic reports and identify fraud patterns.
  • Confident communicator, capable of reporting to internal teams, customers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to minimising fraud and nuisance calls.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments.
  • Familiarity with Ofcom's General Conditions and telecom fraud trends.
  • Prior experience in telecom fraud monitoring or voice traffic analysis is preferred.
