Job description
As a Senior IT Support Engineer you'll play a pivotal role in resolving complex technical issues, providing advanced support, and contributing to ongoing IT projects. You will act as an escalation point for 1st and 2nd line support teams, ensuring seamless IT operations and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
Your responsibilities will include managing server and infrastructure administration, supporting end-user devices, maintaining software including SaaS platforms, and liaising with external suppliers for technical guidance. You'll also advise colleagues, provide expert input on IT strategy, and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team., * Administer, patch, and maintain servers, infrastructure, and end-user devices.
- Support and maintain software, including SaaS platforms.
- Provide out-of-hours support as part of the on-call rota (with overtime compensation).
- Advise staff, contractors, and suppliers on technical queries professionally.
- Manage assets, capacity planning, and IT documentation.
- Liaise with external contractors and suppliers for support, deployment, and decommissioning of systems.
- Maintain awareness of Cyber Essentials and GDPR principles.
- Provide escalation feedback to Head of IT and senior management.

- Strong understanding of networks, network security, servers, virtualization, storage solutions (NAS/SAN), backup and redundancy technologies.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory, MS365, Entra, and firewall configuration.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues accurately and concisely.
- Professional, approachable, and friendly manner.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to produce reports for multiple audiences.
- Coaching ability to share knowledge with colleagues.
Desirable Skills:
- Operational Technology support experience
- Unix/Linux skills
- Docker, Bitdefender Suite, Watchguard, Qualys, JIRA, N-able, Google Suite
- Experience with Ubiquiti networking solutions and Watchguard Firewalls
