Job description
- Focus on gathering the requirements from stakeholders (data analysts / business developers / scientists), translating them into conceptual, logical & physical data model, then sharing the knowledge with data engineers for development
- Validate the accuracy, completeness, and relevance of the data delivered by data engineers to ensure it meets the requirements provided by the business
- Serve as the central point of contact between data analysts/scientists and data engineers, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across teams
- Create and manage comprehensive documentation for data models, including definitions, structures, and relationships, to ensure alignment and clarity across teams
- Assist in identifying and resolving data-related issues, ensuring timely delivery of solutions to stakeholders
- Promote data modelling best practices, standards, and methodologies, ensuring scalable and efficient data solutions
- Review and assess existing data systems across multiple domains to identify areas for improvement and ensure efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
- Develop strategies to modernize and optimize legacy systems while integrating new technologies.
- Host workshops and sessions with stakeholders to elevate their understanding of data modeling techniques and their benefits.
- Embrace curiosity and ask insightful questions to uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Challenge assumptions and the status quo to drive innovation and better decision-making.
Working environment
We are a Domain Data Store development team (Microsoft Azure data platform) that support the Analytics Centres of Expertise (CoEs) and create business value from data, by enabling data analytics, data science and reporting within the Data Domains of Accounts, Savings & Transactions, and Insurances (AST&I). The AST&I Data Domains are within the Transaction Banking product unit, which covers a vast portfolio of products: accounts, payment cards, packages, savings, insurances, open banking APIs, trade finance, digital products like Apple Pay/ Google Pay etc. and associated Sales, business & risk management processes. We contribute significantly to the revenue of the bank by strengthening data driven decision making, also cater to different regulatory and operational topics, and we want to continue and improve on this path to Product Excellence. Our stakeholders apply business intelligence & (advanced) analytics to explore, research and gather valuable insights; and we provide the data foundation and platform to perform these activities.
The Domain Data Store team consists of 15+ members (Product Owner, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers & Data Modelers) and are based across the Netherlands and India. We value diversity and inclusion and the team atmosphere is dynamic, open and informal.

Requirements
- 5+ years
- Passion for your field of expertise
- Collaborative skills, * You have a completed university education (preferably in STEM / business / analytics)
- You are seasoned professional with 5+ years of work experience, with at least 3 years in data modelling field
- Proficiency in programming language such as SQL and Python
- Excellent understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and data modelling techniques
- Effective stakeholder management, planning, and organizational skills to structure and guide projects toward successful completion.
- Strong and clear communication skills in English (Dutch is a bonus)
- Experience in working well with multinational teams spread across countries
- Able to perform functional validation, testing and managing stakeholder's expectations;
- Good understanding of cloud technology e.g. Azure Cloud Services
- Knowledge of Agile/ DevOps/Project management
- Nice to have: Experience in using Erwin Data Modeler tool for data modelling
- Nice to have: Experience in designing ETL pipelines
