Job description

As one of the first Software Engineers at Veli, you will be part of an ambitious and interdisciplinary team working at the intersection of IoT, AI and real world users. We do not just ship code, we build technology that truly saves lives.

You will work closely with our CTO Tim and our experienced product team to tackle some of our biggest engineering challenges, from connecting IoT data streams to building real time AI pipelines and delivering insights to emergency services and end users.

Depending on your strengths and interest, your focus can be on full-stack feature development and/or backend/IoT challenges:

  • Build full-stack features for our web apps and alarm handling system, based on close collaboration with product and customer feedback
  • Design, extend and optimize our backend modules for configuration, operations and IoT or AI data processing pipelines at scale
  • Take shared responsibility for the reliability, security and performance of our end-to-end system, from IoT data to user interfaces

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced and ambitious software engineer who wants to take real ownership and drives solutions end-to-end.

  • You have contributed to production-ready projects and can point to a proven track record.
  • You are highly proficient in programming with Python and TypeScript, and comfortable with most of our broader tech stack (Go, React, Next.js, Django, PostgreSQL, InfluxDB, Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, Prometheus/Grafana).
  • You are excited about joining an early stage engineering team with experts from AI and data science where your work has outsized impact on product and company decisions.
  • You are fluent in English (C1+) and have at least intermediate German skills (B1).
  • You already live in or are willing to relocate to Kassel or Munich.
  • You have an EU work permit.

Benefits & conditions

  • Attractive compensation with competitive salary and VSOP participation to share in Veli's success
  • Hybrid setup with home office and regular team days in Munich or Kassel
  • A small, ambitious and supportive team with direct impact on product and company decisions
  • Personal learning budget for conferences, trainings or courses
  • Monthly benefit budget (e.g. Urban Sports Club, mobility or lifestyle offers)
  • A meaningful product with societal relevance and strong growth potential

About the company
