Job description
- Ensure the departments database and infrastructure services run smoothly and are designed for long-term stability.
- Shape the design, support, and improvement of database and infrastructure services.
- Make informed design choices that maintain reliable services aligned with DWP needs.
- Provide guidance to senior engineers on complex technical challenges.
- Support junior colleagues in skill development and growth.
- Transform risks and raw data into insights for informed decision-making by leaders.
- Represent the department with external partners and promote good engineering practices.
- Collaborate with other senior leaders to provide technical advice and shape future infrastructure.
- Encourage innovative ways of working and ensure constant improvement of services.

Requirements
- Experience in building and developing centralized Data Platforms for large datasets from diverse sources.
- Proficiency in Oracle Database technologies (RAC, Dataguard, RMAN Backup and Recovery).
- Familiarity with Public Cloud Technologies, particularly OCI and AWS.
- Technical leadership experience and ability to support Infrastructure Engineers.
- Understanding of Agile principles in infrastructure delivery.
- Strong communication skills to influence and engage a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to think strategically while providing hands-on leadership.
- Experience in guiding roadmap and architecture work and managing major incidents.
