Job description
The Administrator Apprentice will provide administrative and customer support to the Building Control team, assisting with the processing of building control applications, maintaining accurate records, and supporting inspectors and technical staff. This role combines practical workplace experience with formal training., Duties of the post include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the receipt, logging, and processing of building control applications (e.g. Full Plans,
- Building Notices, Regularisation applications)
- Maintain electronic and paper records in line with data protection and retention requirements
- Input and update information on the Technical Support Team systems and databases
- Support the preparation of correspondence, reports, notices, and certificates
- Act as a first point of contact for customers, responding to enquiries by phone, email, and in person
- Provide basic information on Building Control processes, fees, and timescales
- Signpost customers to appropriate officers or external services when required
- Support Building Control Surveyors/Inspectors with administrative tasks
- Assist with scheduling inspections and updating diaries
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders, including contractors, developers, and
- members of the public
- Work in accordance with Building Regulations, local policies, and health & safety procedures
- Undertake and complete the requirements of the relevant apprenticeship qualification
- Participate in training, reviews, and development activities
Requirements
Do you have experience in Microsoft Word?, * GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or willingness to work towards them
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Organised, reliable, and able to manage time effectively
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and follow procedures
Desirable Criteria:
- Interest in the construction or built environment sector
- Previous administrative or customer service experience (paid or voluntary)
- Familiarity with databases or document management systems
