You will contribute directly to improving robot performance and capabilities while shaping long-term backend architecture. About the Role This is a hands-on senior backend role for someone who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and working in environments with evolving processes and uncertainty. You will design, implement, and maintain production backend systems that are reliable, scalable, and robust. You\u2019ll work closely with robotics engineers and software teams, alternating between core backend development and operational problem-solving, with direct responsibility for the health and usability of the systems you build. As a Backend Engineer, you will: Design, extend, and maintain scalable and consistent APIs for internal and external users. Implement backend features to enhance the main GUI and enable end-to-end inspection workflows. Debug, test, and monitor backend systems in simulation, in-house, and in the field. Integrate and evaluate solutions from external partners. Collaborate with other engineers, product managers, and designers to ensure seamless user experience. Write clean, maintainable, testable code and technical documentation. Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required Skills & Background Solid experience building maintainable backend systems and APIs in production environments. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to operate in environments with ambiguity and evolving priorities. Experience with AWS (Azure a plus) and web/cloud technologies. Strong coding skills in TypeScript; familiarity with Python or C++ a plus. Ownership mindset with ability to make decisions and build frameworks independently. Excellent communication skills, including explaining technical work to non-technical stakeholders. Willingness to travel occasionally (2\u20133 weeks per year) to co-locate with team members or customers. What We Offer Base salary: \u20ac60,000\u2013\u20ac85,000 for Backend roles. Phantom shares with a 4-year vesting period and 1-year cliff. Bonus: 7\u201315% based on annual goals. Health insurance costs currently covered via cash supplement; formal plan planned once Spanish entity is established.
