Job description
Node4 is seeking an accomplished Internal IT Manager to lead and nurture our Internal IT team, ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of our internal IT operations. Reporting to the Chief Architect, this position balances people management - guiding, developing, and supporting IT professionals - with hands-on technical responsibilities, including oversight of our IT environment, and driving strategic projects. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities and a robust technical background to deliver operational excellence and foster ongoing improvement.
People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of IT specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
- Define team objectives, set performance goals, and conduct regular reviews.
- Manage resource allocation, workload distribution, and succession planning.
- Drive employee engagement and retention through effective communication and career development initiatives.
- Act as the primary escalation point for team-related issues and ensure timely resolution.
Technical & IT Environment Management & Delivery
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of internal IT systems, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to align IT services with business needs and strategic objectives.
- Lead and/or manage the delivery of strategic internal IT and systems projects.
- Ensure adherence to IT policies, standards, and best practices, including cybersecurity and data protection.
- Lead incident response and problem resolution for critical IT issues.
- Drive cost and technological efficiencies of internal IT systems.
- Work with the Internal IT Support team to promote and mature effective service delivery, and continue to develop the operating model.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in IT management roles, the bulk of which spent in a leadership capacity managing teams.
- Proven track record of successfully leading IT teams and delivering operational improvements.
- Experience in delivery of large-scale IT transformation projects.
- Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure, networking, and enterprise systems.
- Experience in implementing IT governance frameworks and security standards.
- Experience of developing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in delivering IT Service Management governance and assurance.
- Experience driving user adoption of new tools, processes, or digital capabilities.
- Strong ability to inspire, coach, and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement.
- Conflict resolution and change management expertise.
- Solid understanding of IT infrastructure (servers, networks, cloud environments).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and compliance requirements.
- Competence in IT service management (ITIL or similar frameworks).
- Ability to analyse technical issues and make strategic decisions.
- Demonstrable a passion for technology and outstanding service delivery, including a thirst and commitment to expanding own knowledge base.
