Sopra Steria's Aerospace Defence and Security sector are currently on the lookout for individuals with a background in Network administration or engineering for an exciting new project working within the MOD. You will be on the front line of designing and developing technical solutions that support a key client in the public sector responsible for all aspects of our leading-edge enterprise networking platforms. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to support a key client with a unique project which will see you involved with the design, build, deployment and support of large-scale Network platform. The Lead Network Engineer role offers scope for a more senior candidate to take ownership of the solution on which they are delivering and to mentor less experienced members of the team.
This is a hybrid role based out of our office in Salisbury, you will be in the office 3 days a week on average.
Due to the nature of the client, we are only able to progress with candidates eligible and willing to go through the Developed Vetting (DV) clearance process.
What you'll be doing:
- Assist with and drive the design, build, deployment and support of our enterprise leading edge networks.
- Proactive monitoring and maintenance of all production systems.
- Leading or supporting Investigations into complex service problems, recommending solutions and following procedures to plan, test and implement proposed solutions.
- Responding to operational requirements in support of rapid defence activities.
- Providing support to strategic projects ensuring they meet predefined objectives.
Requirements
- A valid CCNA or CCNP certification or commercial experience working with Cisco products.
- Experience working within an ITIL Environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco solutions (Routers, Switches, Firewalls & Wireless Access Points).
- In depth knowledge/skills in TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, ACL's and other network enabling technologies.
- Hands-on experience managing and troubleshooting firewalls and other security devices.
- Experience configuring, supporting, troubleshooting SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI or VMware NSX.
It would be great if you had:
- Working understanding of Cloud networking solutions and principles i.e. (Azure Networking, AWS networking)
- Use of automation tooling such as Ansible
