Job description
We're looking for an Onsite IT Engineer to join our team, working full-time from one of our client offices in Manchester (M22). You'll be a Gather employee, embedded onsite with a key client, acting as their local technical point of contact for day-to-day IT issues.
While you'll be based at the client site, you won't be working in isolation. You'll be part of Gather's wider technical team, with clear escalation paths, shared tooling, and ongoing support. You'll also contribute to supporting other Gather clients remotely and occasionally onsite.
The role involves resolving day-to-day technical issues, delivering high-quality IT support across desktop, server, and cloud environments, and contributing to improvements that keep systems stable, secure, and well maintained.
This role would suit an in-house IT engineer looking to move into a more fast-moving MSP environment, while still enjoying the structure and relationships that come from being embedded with a single primary client., * Act as the primary onsite point of contact for IT support at a key client location
- Provide first- and second-line support via phone, email, remote tools, and in person
- Troubleshoot issues across Microsoft 365, Windows desktop/server environments, networking, and cloud services
- Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining ownership and clear communication
- Deliver excellent customer service: clear, friendly, and proactive
- Assist with onboarding, device deployment, and user setup
- Support project work such as migrations, upgrades, and documentation
- Identify recurring issues and suggest improvements or automation
- Maintain accurate records in our service management systems
Requirements
Do you have experience in IT support?, * Strong foundation in Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, and basic networking.
- Curious, methodical problem-solver who looks for root causes
- Confident communicator who can explain technical issues clearly
- Organised, dependable, and comfortable owning tasks end to end
- Friendly, approachable, and professional with users
- Keen to learn, develop, and take on more responsibility over time
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an IT support role (MSP experience desirable)
- Experience supporting end users in a professional environment
- Familiar with ticketing systems, RMM tools, and documentation platforms.
- Exposure to Active Directory, Exchange/365 administration, and basic networking (DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls).
- Relevant certifications are a plus, or willingness to work towards them with our support, * IT Support: 2 years (required)
