Job description
The IT System Administrator is responsible for all aspects of systems administration across Eastnets, including servers, applications, databases, networked devices, and end-user support. This role ensures reliable, secure, and scalable IT service delivery by implementing, configuring, maintaining, troubleshooting, and documenting systems and procedures.
The IT System Administrator reports to the Group IT Services Manager and collaborates with business units to meet organizational objectives., * Oversee the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, and cloud services.

Install, upgrade, and integrate computer hardware and software, including managing virtual servers.

Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, prioritizing issues, and documenting problems and resolutions.

Monitor system performance to ensure smooth and secure operation. Perform or delegate regular data backup operations and implement data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures.

Administer the data backup system and restore data as needed.

Maintain servers, workstations, and peripheral hardware.

Manage the Exchange Server email system, including directories, file permissions, and user accounts.

Design and administer virus protection procedures.

Proactively advise management on software and hardware needs.

Compile and update documentation for hardware and software systems, assets, policies, procedures, and solutions.

Maintain and develop user manuals and technical documentation for IT staff.

Provide ongoing technical support and problem-solving services to staff for hardware and software issues.

Lead desktop and helpdesk support efforts to ensure prompt resolution of all related equipment and application problems.

Serve as the primary point of contact for vendor interaction, evaluating products to meet company needs.

Work with vendors to test and develop new solutions.

Communicate all product procurement requirements to the procurement officer and obtain technical support from vendors as needed.

Evaluate and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance system efficiency, security, and operational workflows.

Integrate automation scripts and tools for routine tasks like system maintenance, data backups, and performance monitoring.

Stay current with emerging AI and machine learning technologies and recommend their application to improve IT infrastructure and services.

Participate in pilot programs for new AI and automation technologies to assess their viability and impact on the organization.

Safeguard the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of all business and partner information.

Maintain Eastnets security of information, devices and systems, and its personnel, customers and partners' use.
- Protect Eastnets business information and any customer, supplier, or partner information within its custody by safeguarding its confidentiality, integrity and availability.
- Adhere to and comply with Eastnets internal security policies, Code of Ethics, Non-Disclosure Policy, Non-Compete Policy, Email Policy, Proprietary Rights Acknowledgement, Background Check Policy, and all other internal policies and employee handbook.
- Participate in the company's wide initiatives.
Requirements
- 4-6 years of experience in systems administration.
- A degree in Information Technology or a related field.
- Strong proficiency with Windows Server, including full administration, and excellent troubleshooting skills across various operating systems like Windows, Unix, and Linux.
- Extensive knowledge of network technologies, devices, and tools.
- Familiarity with key protocols and technologies such as DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Firewalls, and SFTP systems.
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms like Hyper-V or VMWare.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Exchange Online, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Entra ID.
- Proven experience automating Windows desktop/laptop builds, network, and server tasks.
- Strong knowledge of helpdesk and IT operations best practices, including security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform basic debugging, coding, and programming tasks.
- Familiarity with AI technologies and their practical applications is a strong plus.
- Professional certifications, such as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSE) and Azure certifications, are highly valued.
