Mindset
We believe three things matter for every role at Lemonade: drive to push through challenges, efficiency that keeps standards high while moving fast, and adaptability that lets you pivot with data and AI insights. These aren't buzzwords, they're how we actually work.
Our AI-first approach isn't just a tagline either. We're building the future of insurance with AI at the center, and we need people who are genuinely excited to learn and grow alongside these tools.
In this role you'll:
- Build core insurance products customers use daily, owning the full lifecycle from concept to deployment
- Lead technical execution within a self-sufficient squad, partnering with Product to define scope and hit OKRs
- Design clean APIs and write maintainable code with performance, reliability, and security built in
- Leverage our in-house autonomous tools to accelerate everything from environment setup to production deployment
- Mentor and elevate other engineers through design reviews, pair sessions, and knowledge sharing
- Shape the next generation of the Lemonade platform by contributing to its design and implementation
- Make data-driven decisions that directly improve user experience across our European markets
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend engineering experience building and shipping large-scale products
- Strong product mindset with a history of focusing on exceptional user experience
- Proven ownership mentality from feature design through deployment and measurement
- Experience making data-driven decisions that move key metrics
- BSc in Computer Science or Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience
- Ready to work in an office environment a minimum of 3 days a week
- Enthusiasm about learning and adapting to the exciting world of AI - a commitment to exploring this field is a fundamental part of our culture
Nice to have: Exposure to TypeScript or Ruby on Rails, past contributions to open-source projects
