You'll contribute to our scalable commerce backend infrastructure, with a significant focus on backend development as we build our future-proof platform. As we build our internal engineering organization, you'll play a key role in both shaping our technical direction and helping establish our engineering culture and practices. You'll work with modern tooling based on MACH architecture patterns, implement patterns like Server-Driven UI (SDUI) of the backend of the HEMA app, and integrate with multiple services including HEMA's APIs, headless CMS platforms, and third-party integrations. Your work will directly impact the experience of thousands of daily users across our digital channels. Our tech stack centers on full stack TypeScript development in our AWS-native

We use Apache Kafka for event-driven architecture and KONG for API management. We provide AI development tools (like Kiro) to all our developers and actively support teams in using AI effectively. We're building AI-powered features including documentation assistants, and we encourage developers to leverage AI throughout the development lifecycle. You have strong experience working with AWS and serverless architectures, demonstrating a solid understanding of cloud-native design patterns, scalability concerns, and production operations. Your background includes designing and integrating APIs, as well as practical experience with key AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, and infrastructure-as-code tools like AWS CDK or similar frameworks. You are proficient with Git and modern version-control workflows and apply strong testing practices, including unit tests, snapshot tests, and integration tests, to maintain high code quality. The role requires translating business requirements into scalable technical solutions and designing, building, and maintaining backend services, APIs, and distributed systems. You will actively apply microservices, serverless, event-driven, and infrastructure-as-code patterns and take full ownership of production systems by monitoring, alerting, debugging, and optimizing performance. In addition to hands-on engineering, the candidate leads technical decisions with a strong focus on solution architecture and quality. You'll collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, working closely with mobile developers, backend engineers, and business stakeholders. You are comfortable speaking up, giving and receiving feedback, not only on code, but also on team behavior and collaboration. Clear communication with both technical and non-technical audiences is essential, as it maintains code quality through thorough testing and documentation. You are consistently applying security best practices, including secure coding principles and awareness of the OWASP Top 10. Nice-to-have experience includes working with Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns and mobile-first optimization, as well as familiarity with Server-Driven UI (SDUI) concepts and implementations. Experience in a mobile app development context, with an understanding of iOS and Android constraints, is valuable.
