Job description
A User Experience Designer is responsible for leading the design of usable, accessible and inclusive government services.
At this level, you will:
Lead analysis of complex user needs and service problems, translating insight into clear, evidence-based design direction
Provide expert design leadership and assurance, shaping patterns, standards and approaches across servicesidentify and address systemic usability and accessibility issues, influencing others to improve service qualitycollaborate with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders, clearly communicating design rationale and outcomes
Requirements
For 6 months - BPSS and SC eligible at minimum
(NNg) Nielson Norman Group qualifications would be a bonus, but not essential
The focus is more around your knowledge of UX design software (Mural, Figma etc.)
Familiarity with agile ways of working and experience working in a multi-skilled, agile team. You will be working with user researchers and service designers etc.
Knowledge of UX Design software is essential 3-5 years minimum experience in UX Designer roles
Ability to communicate complex matters/concepts clearly to stakeholders who may not have an understanding of the technical elements involved. Communication skills are highly important.
Understanding of sprint planning and retrospectives - Mural/Figma
Previous Government experience would be desirable, this can be local or wider Government or Civil service public sector experience would be great to see
