Job description
Reporting to the Head of Design Engineering and working alongside our Central Engineering team, you'll be building relationships across the business with a wide range of stakeholders, colleagues and external suppliers. Taking the lead on plant and process design projects across our national site network, you'll lead the design process, working with Innovation, NPD, Central and Ops Engineering teams and suppliers and be involved in capital investment projects.
In previous roles you'll have gained experience in a wide variety of mechanical design principles, be aware of building regulations and have experience in process plant design. You'll be responsible for designing the factory layouts for new and existing sites, alongside machine replacement (but not designing the machines themselves).
We never compromise on Health & Safety or Quality, and you'll champion our Health and Safety strategy, PUWER, legislation and company standards in all project work and identify and instigate Food Safety and energy usage improvements within your area of responsibility. The Role
- To produce layout and detailed engineering drawings as requested to agreed deadlines.
- To communicate with sites and suppliers in the collection and transfer of information. Undertake site measuring to obtain relevant information when required.
- To source quotations and progress supply for designated area of responsibility.
- To maintain and manage the CAD system and ancillary IT equipment. Utilise the CAD system to its full potential and ensure drawing archives are maintained to agreed standards.
- Provide drawing support to the Building department.
Requirements
- Extensive plant and process design experience in an FMCG environment delivering capital-based activities.
- Engineering experience, ideally within a multi-site manufacturing, distribution or fast-moving consumer goods environment.
- Fully proficient in 2D and 3D design packages.
- Experienced in Stakeholder Management.
- Relevant Engineering Qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent
