Job description

As Information Management Officer, you too can make a powerful contribution. Freedom of Information, Subject Access, RIPA requests, and any other data responses will fall under your remit. You'll ensure that all responses are of a high quality, given due prioritisation and approved in a timely manner. Be the person who listens to users and makes sure their feedback is shared, especially when it shows how things could be improved.

You'll be part of the strategy for managing data and information. This will entail promoting current policies and supporting the development of new ones.

Communication will also be key. You'll organise and attend meetings to oversee improvements in the handling and value derived from data and information.

In all your work, you'll be conscious of the provision health and safety regulations and legislation, Data Protection/GDPR, the Council's Equal Opportunities and Customer Care policies.

This is your opportunity to join a dynamic, focused team in an evolving field. You'll get to work across departments in the Council, ensuring compliance with information management legislation.

Requirements

You'll bring experience in responding to statutory information requests (FOI and Data Protection), information management practices, and appropriate corporate data standards. It would be desirable if you've also reviewed DPIAs.

You have a clear commitment to inclusion and diversity. Coupled with an absolute commitment to meet user need in the best, most efficient way. You're a reliable person to turn to on complex subject areas, with a knack for presenting information simply. An active listener, you'll make an effort to empathise with someone's viewpoint, even if you disagree with them. You're able to produce clear, lightweight reports to a range of stakeholders and successfully administer cross-functional meetings.

Plus, you're clear on sourcing accurate information in a timely manner, and you're able to correctly interpret FOI, UK GDPR (and other legislation) to enable outcomes.

We'd like to see a relevant qualification (ISEB or BCS) or equivalent knowledge and experience.
