Job description

Our client operates in the energy sector, where digitalisation, grid modernisation, and cleaner technologies are reshaping how data is managed. As data becomes increasingly central to supporting these transformations, robust and scalable platforms are essential.

They are looking for a curious and technically confident Data Engineer to help evolve legacy processes into a modern, reliable data ecosystem. In this role, you'll contribute to building stable, analytics-ready systems that support smarter decision-making.

You'll work closely with an international technical team focused on secure data flows and high-quality insights. If you're motivated by crafting future-proof data solutions that support meaningful progress, this opportunity is for you.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop, and maintain reliable data pipelines and automated workflows.
  • Transform legacy Excel and VB Script processes into structured, production-grade data solutions.
  • Implement and optimise ETL and ELT processes for structured and semi-structured datasets.
  • Ensure strong data quality, availability, and reliability for analytics and reporting use cases.
  • Work with business, service, and engineering teams to convert operational needs into technical designs.
  • Support data governance and continuously improve documentation and internal best practices.
  • Contribute to ongoing enhancements of the data architecture and its components.
  • Operate in a hybrid working model, including regular onsite collaboration., * Contractor or employee collaboration
  • Digital recruitment process and onboarding to the company.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Data Engineer role within production environments.
  • Past experience in the energy sector is nice to have.
  • Your strengths include SQL mastery, Python development, and hands-on ETL/ELT expertise.
  • Working experience with tools such as Tableau, ETL orchestration frameworks, and relational databases.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a structured working style.
  • Clear communication skills in English.
  • Comfort with working onsite in Brussels (2-3 days weekly) and being locally based.
