Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Document Controller to join our Ground Engineering team based out of our offices in Leiston, Suffolk as part of the Sizewell C project and the Geotechnical Subcontract Alliance (GSA).

The GSA is a key part of the Sizewell C nuclear power station project on the Suffolk coast. It focuses on preparing the ground for construction by building cut-off walls, improving soil stability, and installing bearing elements and retaining structures. The work involves advanced techniques such as piling, diaphragm walling, soil mixing, and grouting, using specialist equipment including hydrofraises, hydraulic grabs, piling rigs, and soil mixing plants. The GSA team operates under a collaborative alliance model to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality results.

Role purpose: To manage the document control requirements throughout the project's lifecycle. This involves ensuring the accurate registration, storage, and accessibility of all drawings, documentation, and specifications. The role also requires effective communication and coordination with on-site staff, project-based teams, customer procurement departments, and external suppliers.

What you'll be doing

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage document control for the project throughout the duration of the contract in accordance with internal and contractual client requirements;
  • Work proactively with project managers and teams to ensure a deliverables forecast is prepared and adhered to;
  • Ensure accurate control of documentation from design, reconstruction/construction through to completion and handover;
  • Ensure that the project team are aware of the document control requirements when submitting documents;
  • Ensure that procedures are fully implemented to meet the requirements of the Business Management System and other documentation and information systems;
  • Participate in internal and external project meetings to ensure that all decisions and actions align with the project's document control procedures and requirements;
  • Manage business archiving such that all documentation is stored efficiently and can be accessed and always referenced;
  • Work to continuously improve and enhance procedures and systems utilised for document control;
  • Provide feedback such that project managers are fully aware of all documentation issues;
  • Identify opportunities for improvement within the document control process.

Requirements

The following qualities/experience are essential:

  • A good understanding of IT and Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint;
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Excellent planning and organisation skills;
  • Determination to see tasks through to completion.

The following qualities/experience are desirable:

  • Experience of document control within the construction sector;
  • Experience in with the Asite Electronic Document Management Systems;
  • An understanding of Document Control with respect to ISO 19650;
