Job description
TSR Legal is recruiting on behalf of a well-established law firm for a Practice Management System & Applications / Systems Administrator to take ownership of the firm's PMS environment and support wider business systems projects.
This is a standalone role reporting to the Managing Partner/IT Partner, offering excellent autonomy and the opportunity to drive real systems improvement across the business.
The Role
You will be responsible for the day-to-day management, development and optimisation of the firm's Practice Management System (PMS), working closely with users, outsourced PMS support and the external IT provider.
This position would suit someone with strong operational PMS experience who enjoys improving usability, efficiency and system adoption across a legal environment., Practice Management System
- Support staff daily with PMS issues and errors in conjunction with outsourced support
- Manage PMS administration including user setup, stamp duty updates, Land Registry and Laserform administration
- Champion best practice and consistent system usage across the firm
- Manage PMS upgrades, including testing prior to implementation
- Identify and drive system improvements and efficiencies
- Tailor and develop workflows, reporting and custom scripting to meet business needs
- Code and maintain companywide documents where required
- Deliver PMS training to new starters and users as needed
- Participate in ongoing PMS project work
Applications & Systems Projects
Working with the Managing Partner and outsourced IT provider, you will:
- Gather and document user requirements for new systems
- Liaise with third-party suppliers and obtain cost information
- Support implementation of new applications
- Manage user testing and feedback
- Oversee deployment of new systems and upgrades
Example Project Exposure

- Dictation system migrations
- Security and encryption rollouts
- E-signature implementation
- Document bundling software upgrades
- PMS upgrades and reviews
- Microsoft OS and VDI environment changes
- WiFi and Teams room improvements
- Client portal implementation projects
- GDPR archiving and data management projects
Requirements
- Proven experience working with legal Practice Management Systems from an operational perspective
- Strong understanding of end-user needs within a law firm environment
- Experience improving PMS functionality and business processes
- Project management experience across system implementations
- Confident liaising with third-party suppliers and IT providers
- Strong testing, rollout and change management skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement ability
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working in a standalone role
Desirable:
- Experience within a legal or professional services environment
- Experience with workflow development, reporting or scripting
- Exposure to PMS migrations or reviews
