Job description

The role

You will be one of our key contributors who guide and foster innovation by developing leading-edge products that span from the IoT edge to cloud applications.

You will work collaboratively to solve interesting and challenging problems in a cross functional team with other engineering disciplines including Data Scientists, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Platform Engineers, Systems Engineers and Hardware Engineers.

The software team is missioned to build operational insight, control and analytics applications that manage our core connectivity services. In this team you'll have a unique opportunity to have first-hand exposure to the strategy of the company in key cloud and edge device initiatives, especially in building scalable and secure-by-design systems and solutions.

You also have opportunities to go through the whole lifecycle of products and services, are encouraged to participate in each phase, each part of the projects and have the whole picture of what you are working on.

As a Software Engineer who is passionate about technology, you will use the most effective and applicable technologies to create robust and scalable software that runs in the cloud or on the edge.

You will work on a variety of challenges towards product or solution deliverables, often highly complex and based around mission critical systems that combines capabilities like data streaming, aggregation, asset management, monitoring, reporting and visualisation, through clean and consistent coding.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Web services?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Proficiency in one or more general purpose programming languages.

  • Interest and ability to learn other coding languages as needed.

  • Experience and understanding of building products on cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure and GCP and micro services.

  • Experience in building data pipelines and data storage solutions

  • Familiarity with designing, developing and creating RESTful web services and APIs.

  • Familiarity with message brokers.

  • Familiarity with CICD pipelines and test automation.

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)

  • Understanding of containerisation (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)

  • Basic understanding of security principals

  • Good understanding of agile or lean development practices.

  • Ability to write and speak in English fluently.

Desirable & Development Areas

  • Experience with GoLang and Python.

  • Experience in designing data pipelines and data storage solutions for high throughput

  • Experience with data engineering tools (e.g. Apache Spark, AWS Glue, Kinesis, Snowflake, Apache Airflow)

  • Experience with Time Series databases.

  • Experience with message brokers like Kinesis, SQS

  • Familiarity with IoT protocols (MQTT)

  • Familiarity with Helm charts and Kubernetes manifest management

  • Experience with front-end technology (e.g. Angular, React).

  • Experience in building data pipelines and data streaming applications.

  • Experience in database/application scaling, optimisation and monitoring.
