Job description
· Provide first-line and advanced technical support to customers and internal teams (remote and on-site)
· Diagnose and resolve breakdowns and operational issues to minimise downtime
· Guide customers, service engineers and installation teams with practical technical advice
· Help identify and specify spare parts
· Escalate repeat faults, design issues and long-term technical risks to the relevant teams
· Work closely with Sales, Engineering, Controls, Production, Procurement and Spares to resolve technical issues
· Support continuous improvement by spotting recurring problems and recommending fixes
· Complete documentation accurately (service notes, reports, logs) and maintain professional standards
· Take part in an out-of-hours support rota as required
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Programmable logic controllers?, Have you served an apprenticeship in a mechanical or electrical related programme. Completed a Degree in a similar technical subject and do you have 1-5 years experience in a sort of similar role - because personality and attitude counts for more!, This is an ideal entry point for someone who has completed a mechanical or electrical apprenticeship (or a relevant degree/HND) and is looking for structured training, real responsibility and long-term career development. You'll join a niche, specialist engineering business with an SME feel - but a UK market leader in its field - backed by a major German parent group. Essential (or very equivalents):
· Mechanical or electrical apprenticeship completed (City & Guilds or equivalent) OR relevant HND/Degree route
· 1-2 years' experience in a technical service, support, maintenance or installation environment (ideal)
· Confidence fault-finding on electro-mechanical systems and using structured troubleshooting methods
· Clear communicator - able to explain technical issues to non-technical people
· Team player who is adaptable, calm under pressure and keen to learn
· Full manual UK driving licence; right to work in the UK; willingness to travel
BONUS EXP:
· Automation / controls interest (PLC fundamentals, SCADA exposure, B&R/Trackview-type systems)
· Any experience supporting customers or sites overseas
· Experience using service/ticketing tools or writing technical notes
· Forklift/MEWP or similar site equipment licences (or willingness to obtain)
Benefits & conditions
· Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 salary review: Formal review after 6 months · Hours of work: 08:00-17:00, Monday to Friday (includes a 30 minute unpaid break) · Overtime: Paid at 1.5× for weekend work · Benefits: Holidays + company benefits (Superb!)
