Job description
Techary redefines the way customers procure, implement, and support their organisations' technology. We are looking for a talented Lifecycle Engineer to join our technical operations, working in a vibrant shared environment, helping their customers with their day-to-day device builds and device lifecycle functions., * Assemble and install hardware components (e.g., memory, drives, network cards, peripherals) in laptops, desktops, servers, and other endpoint devices.
- Build devices according to pre-defined build guides and configuration profiles.
- Configure and deploy both Windows and macOS devices to end-user readiness standards.
- Ensure devices are updated with the latest OS patches, firmware, and security configurations.
Build Process Ownership & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and document issues encountered during device builds; escalate where necessary.
- Liaise with technical teams to troubleshoot build problems.
- Suggest and test improvements to existing build processes, scripts, and deployment methods.
Asset Lifecycle Management
- Asset tag devices with appropriate asset labels.
- Log and update device information in the Asset Management Platform (e.g., serial number, location, owner, status).
- Ensure real-time updates during key lifecycle stages: deployment, reallocation, return, repair, or disposal.
Waste & Device Retirement
- Manage e-waste processes for end-of-life devices in accordance with sustainability and compliance regulations.
- Facilitate secure data wiping and certified disposal or recycling.
- Maintain audit trails and compliance records for retired assets.
Operational & Support Collaboration
- Provide hands-on support for hardware issues during build or post-deployment phases.
- Work alongside internal departments and teams to co-ordinate delivery of builds etc.
- Maintain high standards of documentation, checklists, and operational playbooks for consistency.
Requirements
Do you have experience in macOS?, * Proven experience in hardware builds and upgrades (e.g., RAM/SSD installations, motherboard configuration).
- Experience configuring and imaging Windows 10/11 and macOS using tools such as Intune, Autopilot, DEP, JAMF, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with BIOS/UEFI settings, device encryption (e.g., BitLocker, FileVault), and security baselining.
- Exposure to scripting basics (PowerShell, Bash) is advantageous but not essential.
Tool & Platform Proficiency
- Experience working with Asset Management Platforms.
- Familiarity with ITSM tools and ticket-based workflows.
- Knowledge of remote configuration/deployment tools (e.g., MDT, SCCM, Apple MDM).
Operational and Soft Skills
- Exceptional attention to detail with a methodical approach to device handling and documentation.
- Ability to follow technical instructions accurately and improve documentation where needed.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills-comfortable working across IT functions and individually.
- Organised, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced or high-volume environment.
