Job description
We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Consultant with pension calculations capability to join a dynamic pension services client.
You will lead the planning and delivery of projects for pensions clients, ensuring legacy system data is transitioned accurately into new environments. You'll design mapping frameworks, build transformation logic, develop automated migration scripts, and rigorously test outputs to validate integrity, using tools such as T-SQL, SQL, Excel macros and XML.
Bringing strong financial services and migration expertise, you'll combine technical knowledge with a sharp analytical approach to deliver compliant, accurate outcomes, working within the client delivery team to gather requirements, produce frameworks, configure migrations, and occasionally travel to client sites where needed.
What you'll be doing as a Data Migration Consultant:
Design, implement, and optimize SQL-based solutions to support migration and reporting needs. Develop plans and processes, ensuring minimal disruption to existing services and integrity. Perform ETL operations to migrate data between systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Collaborate with other team members to gather requirements and design solutions that meet project and company goals. Monitor and improve performance, managing indexing, partitioning and query optimization. Ensure compliance with protection and privacy standards, proactively managing risks. Additional duties include the configuration of workflows, maintenance screens, interfaces with other systems, pensioner payroll and reports. Communicating with clients throughout the software customisation process to obtain feedback and approval. Customising software systems based on client's individual needs and specifications. Educating clients on how to use IntelliPen and customised system features. Engaging with our training team when required. Creating documentation for clients and for internal use where appropriate. Providing support in the software release process and software upgrade process when required. Building relationships with team members and all internal and external clients.
Requirements
Proven track record in designing and implementing solutions, including data mapping, transformation, reconciliations and validation. Strong understanding of database design principles, data modelling, and normalisation. Strong understanding of database structures, principles, and practices, with experience in relational databases such as SQL Server. Ability to troubleshoot and optimise queries and database structures for improved performance and resource management. Proven experience in large-scale projects, preferably within the pensions or financial services industry. Skilled in ETL processes, data cleansing, and mapping strategies. Experience in implementing software systems. Proficiency with T-SQL, Microsoft SQL server management, XML and Microsoft - full suite. The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and deliver rapid outcomes. Excellent verbal, written communication and organisational skills. Experience designing and implementing pensions calculations. Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution calculations experience. Configuring or developing pensions or financial services software. Alternative programming knowledge including developing Excel macros or similar. IntelliPen / IntelliCalcs experience would be advantageous.
Benefits & conditions
Core hours: Monday to Friday. 37.5 hours per week. Monday to Friday. Location: Remote. However, you may need to travel to client sites around the UK when required. Day rate: Competitive day rates via umbrella contractdependant on experience. Duration: 6 months with opportunity to extend.
