Job description
VIQU IT are currently seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a well-established organisation based in Portsmouth. This is a BAU focused role, supporting and maintaining a live environment whilst the organisation completes on-going project work., As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting, and optimising the organisation's core infrastructure estate. You'll play a key role in ensuring high availability, performance, and security across the Windows-based environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys operational stability, proactive improvement, and hands-on infrastructure support within a Microsoft-centric environment.
The Infrastructure Engineer Responsibilities:
- Day-to-day support of Windows server infrastructure
- Administration of Microsoft technologies (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP)
- Management and support of virtual environments (VMware)
- Monitoring system performance and resolving infrastructure issues
- Supporting backup, patching, and upgrade processes
- Assisting with networking support and troubleshooting
- Maintaining security best practices across the environment
Requirements
- Strong experience across the Microsoft Windows Server stack
- Active Directory administration
- VMware experience (build, support, and troubleshooting)
- Solid understanding of core networking principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, switching, firewalls)
- Experience working in a BAU/operational support environment
Desirable:
- Fortinet Firewall experience
- Exposure to infrastructure security best practices
- Experience working within structured ITIL environments
This position requires regular onsite presence in Portsmouth, with the possibility of hybrid working once established in the role.
