Job description

We are currently looking for a System & Application Engineer to join the team. The role will be reporting to the System Performance Lead, and you will be responsible for applying your Systems Thinking approach to build and visualise insights which describe the performance of our hydraulic systems. This will be built primarily on a solid foundation of high quality OT data which you will help to manage, along with a broad and diverse range of business metrics to provide true overview of our operational performance. Responsible for developing business requirements and using tools and platforms such as SCADA, Datacore & Ignition and developing a tracking system to ensure all telemetry changes are captured and monitored to ensure the highest quality. Your role will require you to keep your technical knowledge and industry relevant knowledge up to speed through the engagement and establishing of a wide network through internal and external training & forums while maintaining great working relationships with our stakeholders & other Water Services and DDaT team members, collaborating and providing knowledge & expertise when required. What does it take to be a System Application Engineer?

  • Educated to BTEC Higher Technical qualification or equivalent

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of SCADA systems & the configuration processes
  • Knowledge & experience of Systems Thinking, performance metrics and Situational Awareness development
  • Knowledge & experience of low code app development
  • knowledge of water network and supply operations.
  • Excellent understanding of automation, control and telemetry requirements.
  • Proven track record of making changes to systems as required for project or programme delivery and continuous improvement.
  • Abilities to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills
  • Strong IT systems & application skills
