Job description
We'll be upfront: We are in the middle of an organisational transformation. It's a bit chaotic, and we have a gap in holistic, strategic business design. We need a Senior who doesn't just design screens but designs systems of logic. It's a big opportunity to take the next step in your design journey and support Design leadership at a strategic level. This is a practitioner first role. While you bring the strategic oversight, you are a master of tools and lead by doing, working alongside and supporting a Global UX Team of 15 seasoned Designers and Researchers.
Speaking of that Global UX Team, we love in person workshops, have regular creative design sessions in our offices, and like to keep things as fun as possible. We do everything with a smile, if you don't have fun creating it, users won't have fun using it! We back each other up and work as one big team no matter how separate our work can feel.
The Mission Your goal is to bridge the gap between business goals and user needs. You will be hands-on across the entire design lifecycle - from the initial "why" to the final "how". You are responsible for producing the strategic deliverables (service maps, logic flows), alongside the design deliverables that the cross functional teams rely on., Mastery of Craft
- Hands-on delivery: You will own the design output for your streams. This means getting into the weeds of Figma, creating wireframes, and building prototypes that demonstrate complex functionality.
- Leading by example: You'll set the standard for what good looks like for components, auto layout, and file organisation. Helping mentor more junior team members to set a new bar for our design standards.
Strategic Discovery
- Leading Discovery: You won't just work alongside researchers; you will help define the discovery strategy. You'll take vague business bets and turn them into validated, de-risked directions.
- Balancing the Scales: Partner with designers to provide the logical guardrails - ensuring complex user flows and information architecture are settled before high-fidelity design begins.
- Stakeholder Diplomacy: Act as a peer to Product colleagues. You'll need to navigate fast paced delivery phases, using data and logic to keep the scope focused.
Design Ops & Governance
- Defining the Manual: You won't just follow processes; you'll help build them. You'll help define our global "Definition of Ready" and ensure our UK and Australia teams are aligned alongside Design Leadership.
- Design System Governance: Help us manage the scalability of our new design system. You'll care about tokens, logic, and documentation as much as the components themselves.
- Mentorship: You will be a point of escalation for more junior members, helping them navigate their own grey areas.
Requirements
Do you have experience in UX?, * Experience: 5+ years' experience in UX/Product Design Roles. Bonus if this is in a SaaS organisation during a large transformation period, and/or EdTech.
- Business-Minded: You understand KPIs and ROI. You design solutions that create outcomes, not just pixels.
- A do-er at heart: you get excited to solve complex logic puzzles and building the solution.
- High Autonomy: You tell us what needs to happen next, and we back you up.
- IA Proficiency: You are obsessed with Information Architecture and can map out complex, multi-state ecosystems in your sleep.
- Pragmatic Leader: You know when to push for a research-led pivot and when to ship a "Version 1" to maintain business momentum.
Why join us now? If you want to move away from the tools and into management, enjoy rigid hierarchies, and are comfortable with predictable pixel pushing, then this probably isn't the place for you. If you want the autonomy, strategic input, and creative flow that comes with seniority, and to be able to look back in a years' time and say 'I helped shaped how this company designs products' then we should talk. We offer the chance to have massive impact during a critical stage of growth.
