Job description

As a Senior Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer, you play a key role in enabling and accelerating engineering teams working on the Nextlane Platform. Your mission is to improve developer productivity, reliability, and quality by building and operating the internal tooling, CI/CD foundations, and platform capabilities used by backend and platform teams. You act as a facilitator and force multiplier for product teams, working closely with backend engineers, platform engineers, and DevOps to reduce friction, standardize practices, and promote engineering excellence across the organization. This role is hands-on and strategic, with a strong focus on automation, selfservice, and scalable developer enablement in a microservices and cloud-native environment, * Design, build, and maintain internal developer tools that improve day-today engineering workflows.

  • Reduce cognitive load for product teams through automation, conventions, and clear platform standards.
  • Gather feedback from engineering teams and continuously improve the developer experience.
  • Act as a trusted technical partner for backend teams, facilitating adoption of platform capabilities.

CI/CD, GitHub & Automation

  • Design, maintain, and evolve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
  • Define and promote best practices for GitHub usage (repositories, branching strategies, pull requests, code quality gates).
  • Improve pipeline reliability, performance, and security at scale.
  • Embed automated checks and quality gates into delivery workflows

Cloud, Runtime & Platform Tooling

  • Build and operate platform services based on Azure Functions.
  • Standardize container-based development using Docker.
  • Support and evolve Kubernetes-based runtime environments in collaboration with platform and DevOps teams.
  • Promote cloud-native and platform-agnostic design patterns.

Quality, Testing & Standards

  • Design and support integration testing strategies and shared testing frameworks.
  • Enable consistent testing practices across teams through tooling and documentation.
  • Ensure quality, security, and reliability concerns are addressed early in the delivery lifecycle.

Package Management, Scaffolding & Reusability

  • Define and maintain package management and dependency versioning strategies.
  • Create and maintain project scaffolding, templates, and reference implementations.
  • Drive consistency across services while preserving team autonomy and ownership

Requirements

Do you have experience in Microservices?, * 5+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevEx, or DevOps roles.

  • Proven track record of improving developer productivity and delivery quality at scale.
  • Experience supporting multiple teams in a microservices environment.
  • Experience working in cloud environments (Azure & AWS preferred).

Languages:

  • Fluent in English (mandatory);
  • French language proficiency is a plus. (Interview will be conducted in English

Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong Expertise o Strong experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
  • Proven experience building CI/CD platforms and internal developer tooling.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Functions.
  • Solid knowledge of containers (Docker) and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with integration testing frameworks and automation.
  • Strong understanding of package management, versioning, and dependency strategies.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams.
