Job description
We are seeking a Principal / Staff Platform Engineer to shape the architectural evolution of the company's cloud control plane and internal platform foundations.
This is a systems-level engineering role focused on:
- Evolving control-plane architecture and cluster abstractions
- Driving service-to-service modernisation, including gRPC adoption and service mesh patterns
- Establishing event-driven and pub/sub foundations for scalable platform communication
- Designing Kubernetes-native abstractions, including operator-level patterns
- Improving multi-tenant reliability, resilience and observability across distributed environments
- Building internal platform capabilities that reduce cognitive load and accelerate engineering velocity
Architectural Scope
You will contribute to and lead initiatives across:
- Control-plane and cluster-level system design
- Kubernetes-native platform abstractions
- Event-driven service communication models
- Observability and telemetry strategy (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
- Reliability engineering and resilience patterns
- Platform refactoring to support enterprise-scale SaaS deployments
Requirements
Do you have experience in gRPC?, This position is suited to engineers with experience in database, SaaS or systems-level product environments where performance, scale and reliability are core product differentiators.
Open-source contribution experience is highly valued, reflecting the company's engineering culture.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years in platform, infrastructure or distributed systems engineering
- Deep expertise in Go (Python beneficial)
- Strong Kubernetes and cloud-native systems design experience
- Experience building systems consumed internally by multiple engineering teams
- Proven ability to drive architectural alignment and platform evolution
- Background in SaaS, database or infrastructure-first product organisations, * yrs architecting control-plane systems?: 2 years (required)
