Job description
- Lead the design, architecture, and deployment of robust ML and data science solutions, taking ownership of the full lifecycle from early prototyping to scalable, production-ready MLOps pipelines.
- Develop, deploy, and optimize algorithms and models for rankings, recommendations, conversion optimization, and dynamic pricing, balancing pragmatic, efficient solutions with cutting-edge advancements.
- Apply large language models (LLMs) and associated strategies, to real-world applications such as entity extraction, automated content generation and automation of various operational processes.
- Design, execute, and analyse online experiments (A/B tests) with rigorous statistical methods, to guide hypothesis-driven decisions. Applied knowledge of Causal Inference techniques is a plus.
- Act as a strategic partner to Product Managers and business stakeholders; translate ambiguous business challenges into concrete, data-driven technical roadmaps.
- Mentor junior team members and uphold high standards (code, deliverables).
- Stay on top of industry trends by experimenting with emerging technologies, separating the wheat from the chaff.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Data Science and Machine Learning roles, with a proven track record of deploying models to production in a high-growth Tech/Scale-up environment.
- Deep expertise in machine learning fundamentals, including probability, statistics, calculus, and optimization; experience with advanced topics like reinforcement learning or graph neural networks is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with mastery of key libraries (PyData stack), and modern data engineering tools(e.g. Databricks, Airflow, MLflow, Langfuse, etc..), paired with rigorous software engineering practices (git, CI/CD, Docker, tests)
- Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP).
- Demonstrated experience with LLMs and GenAI, including prompt and context engineering, RAG, advanced inference approaches, agentic approaches, and evaluation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills to convey complex insights to non-technical stakeholders; ability to thrive in a scale-up environment, taking ownership and adapting quickly.
- Passion for data science, evidenced by continuous learning (e.g., following arXiv papers, attending meet-ups, or contributing to open-source projects).
- Living in the Netherlands and available for a hybrid work model
