Job description

  • Infrastructure Design & Management: Design, deploy, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure infrastructure within AWS.
  • LEMP Stack Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert for the LEMP stack, optimising performance, troubleshooting complex issues, and ensuring security across the environment.
  • Monitoring & Observability: Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting for all services and infrastructure components (e.g., using Zabbix, CloudWatch, Open Telemetry).
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure infrastructure security best practices are followed, including regular patching, vulnerability management, and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Troubleshooting: Act as a final escalation point for complex production issues, identifying root causes and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with software development and QA teams to ensure infrastructure meets application requirements and facilitates rapid development cycles. Also, to support other colleagues with information requests for customers and bids.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Ubuntu?, We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a deep technical expert in managing and scaling infrastructure built on Amazon Web Services (AWS), with a strong focus on the Linux, Nginx, MySQL/PostgreSQL, and PHP (LEMP) stack.

This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining high-availability, high-performance systems which underpin our SaaS platform. A good familiarity with vulnerability management and investigation, including the use of tools such as Tenable, is a plus. Experience with ISO27001 and similar standards would also be beneficial.

This role will report to and work closely with the Head of Infrastructure in supporting all aspects of the Company's networks, servers, and security systems. The successful candidate should be able to learn new technologies quickly and require minimal supervision., * Experience: Extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, including data centre and cloud environments.

  • AWS: Extensive experience with core AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, ELB/ALB, IAM, CloudFront). AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) is a plus.
  • LEMP Stack: Extensive experience in configuring, optimising, and securing Linux (e.g., Ubuntu, Debian), Nginx, MySQL, and PHP-FPM.
  • Scripting & Automation: Strong proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Networking: Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, Load Balancing, and network security principles within a cloud environment, CloudFlare experience beneficial.
  • Operating Systems: Extensive experience with Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) operating system administration and troubleshooting., * Experience with advanced database technologies and scaling strategies.
  • Familiarity with logging and centralised log management systems (e.g., ELK stack).
  • Experience in a high-traffic, international 24/7 production environment.
  • ISO27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and GDPR standards experience.
  • Experience with CloudFlare.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code configuration and deployment, preferably using Terraform/OpenTofu.
