Job description
We are seeking an experienced CCTV Network Engineer with strong technical skills in Synectics VMS, IP camera programming, and network switch configuration. This role supports critical security infrastructure in Central West London, ensuring high system availability and exceptional performance.
You will be responsible for deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise-grade CCTV systems, particularly Synectics Synergy, as well as building robust, secure video networks.
Key Responsibilities
CCTV & VMS Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Synectics Synergy VMS, including servers, workstations, and storage. Program, configure, and commission IP cameras (fixed, PTZ, dome, thermal) including IP addressing, stream configuration, analytics setup, and firmware upgrades. Perform system diagnostics, resolve recording issues, and monitor overall system health.Network & Switch Configuration
Configure and maintain network switches (Cisco, HP, Juniper or similar) including: VLAN configuration Multicast / IGMP snooping QoS for video traffic Spanning Tree PoE provisioning for CCTV infrastructure Support fibre and copper CCTV network backbones across the site. Ensure secure network segmentation to protect CCTV systems.Deployment & Commissioning
Lead onsite installation of cameras, switches, encoders, and network infrastructure. Perform acceptance testing (FAT/SAT) and produce technical documentation. Work with Projects and Security teams to roll out system upgrades and expansions.Maintenance & Support
Conduct preventative maintenance checks across the system. Maintain accurate asset lists, network diagrams, and configuration files.Skills & Experience
Requirements
Strong hands-on experience with Synectics VMS (Synergy). Proven ability to program and configure IP CCTV cameras. Solid understanding of IP networking, especially within CCTV environments. Experience configuring network switches. Ability to troubleshoot software, hardware, and network issues independently. Knowledge of Windows Server environments.Desirable
Synectics technical certifications. CCNA, Network+, or equivalent networking qualification. Experience with video analytics or LPR/ANPR systems. Understanding of GDPR and CCTV data-handling standards.Personal Attributes
Strong communicator with the ability to work across technical and security teams. Analytical thinker with excellent troubleshooting skills. Highly organised and detail-driven.
