Garden Linux powers SAP's global infrastructure as foundation for countless enterprise workloads at SAP. The mission of the Project is to develop and maintain, a minimal, purpose-built operating system environment designed for containerized and cloud-native infrastructure. Garden Linux provides a small, secure, and largely immutable runtime optimized for Kubernetes platforms such as Gardener, while also supporting use as a container base image or standalone system.
This role is focused on managing and prioritizing the product backlog by breaking down business requirements into actionable work items while acting as a liaison between users, clients, and technical teams to ensure true needs are addressed. Additionally, the role includes building and maintaining a public community and website to engage stakeholders.
We're building ApeiroRA, an open-source reference architecture that strengthens Europe's digital sovereignty. This initiative is part of a broader movement to ensure security, sustainability, and compliance for cloud-to-edge computing. The Role:
- Maintain and prioritize product backlog and breakdown business requirements to EPICs, User Stories and issues
- Bridge disciplines - think like a product manager, act like an engineer. You translate between users, clients, and your team to ensure real needs are met.
- Facilitate communication between technical and non-technical groups, bridging gaps and driving collaborative problem-solving.
- Monitor and report on progress of the project, proactively identify risks, and implement solutions to keep initiatives on track.
- Build a public community and maintain our public website.
- Ensure that the project contribute to the long-term goals of digital sovereignty and cloud-native innovation in Europe.
Requirements
- Strong background in product/project management methodologies and agile software engineering; proven experience either as project manager or (technical) product owner.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills in German and English, both written and verbal
- Experienced with using GitHub for the product backlog prioritization.
- Good technical understanding of Linux Systems, Kubernetes, open-source projects and cloud technologies and hands-on experience in any programming language is beneficial.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
